WHAT IS FORDITE? Authentic, genuine Fordite comes from automobile paint booths in factories and holds the historical record of the cars that were assembled there on the production line. The overspray from painting collects on the metal racks that hold up the car or car parts and every few months it has to be chiseled off so production can continue. When the overspray is removed, the Fordite contains the paint record of every car, make and model that has passed through the production line. It has the hardness of a sedimentary rock and can be cut and shaped with lapidary tools. This is the raw material that I use to create the cabochons, jewelry, and display pieces found in my shop.
