THE FORDITE STORY • The Fordite cabochon at the heart of this pendant is truly one-of-a-kind • It is expertly crafted from multiple layers of original, cured paint overspray • Sourced specifically from 1950s Chevy Bel Air vehicles, giving it significant historical value • Each layer within the Fordite represents a different color of paint applied during the vintage automotive painting process, creating unique patterns • This material is often referred to as "Detroit Agate" due to its origins in automotive factories and its agate-like banded appearance

IMPORTANT NOTES • Due to the natural formation process of Fordite from paint layers, each cabochon is distinct and displays its own unique patterns, swirls, and color combinations. Any chains or display items shown in photographs are for illustrative purposes and are not included with the purchase. WHAT IS FORDITE? Genuine Fordite comes from automobile paint booths in factories and holds the historical record of the cars that were assembled there on the production line. The overspray from painting collects on the metal racks that hold up the car or car parts and every few months it has to be chiseled off so production can continue. When the overspray is removed, the Fordite contains the paint record of every car, make and model that has passed through the production line. It has the hardness of a sedimentary rock and can be cut and shaped with lapidary tools. This is the raw material that I use to create the cabochons, jewelry, and display pieces found in my shop.
